Do you have shoulder pain? Does it wake you up at night? You may have frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) or maybe bone spurs in your shoulder.
How to determine if you have it?
On the unaffected side make a fist place it near your heart, raise your elbow toward your head, now repeat the process but apply some resistance to the elbow your raising, this should feel well.
Next, on the affected side make a fist place it near your heart, raise your elbow toward your head, now repeat the process but apply some resistance to the elbow your raising, if you get pain you either have a bone spur or frozen shoulder.
How does massage help? Massage loosens all the muscles which cause the bone spur or the frozen shoulder.
How long will it take? It depends on the extent of the problem, 1 - 6 visits typically.
Several other options are physical therapy, cortisone injections or as a last resort, surgery.
For the past week I have had this slowly-developing pain just under my collar bone that is at its worst as I move back up from the bottom of the dip and push-up. Overhead squats don't feel great either.
